Miami to Madrid Flight Cancelled: What Iberia Owes You

Iberia operates direct flights from Miami to Madrid. As an EU carrier, Iberia is fully covered by EU261 on all flights, including departures from the US. Here is what Iberia owes you when your flight is cancelled.

Iberia and EU261

Iberia is a Spanish EU carrier and a member of the IAG group (alongside British Airways). Because Iberia is an EU carrier, EU261 covers all Iberia flights, including those from Miami (MIA) to Madrid. A cancellation or delay of 3+ hours at arrival entitles you to €600 per person (MIA to MAD is over 7,000 km).

Spain has a 5-year limitation period. Iberia flights from Madrid disrupted up to 5 years ago may still be claimable. For MIA flight delays, see our airport guide.

What Iberia Owes You

  • Cancelled flight: Full refund OR rebooking on the next available flight, PLUS €600 per person EU261 compensation (unless extraordinary circumstances).

  • Delay of 3+ hours at arrival: €600 per person EU261 compensation.

  • Duty of care: Meals, refreshments, and hotel accommodation during significant delays, regardless of cause.

EU261 compensation and your refund right are separate. You can claim both. For full details on EU261 amounts, see our compensation calculator. For the claims process, read our step-by-step guide.
