What easyJet passengers are entitled to
Under US DOT rules, your rights do not depend on the reason for the disruption. They are the law.
EU261 / UK261 may also apply
If your easyJet flight departed from an EU or UK airport, EU261 or UK261 entitles you to up to €600 / £520 per passenger for delays of 3 or more hours, regardless of the reason, with limited exceptions for extraordinary circumstances.
Refund
100%
If easyJet cancels or significantly delays your flight and you choose not to travel, EU261 or UK261 requires a full cash refund within 7 days. easyJet cannot force a voucher. Refund goes to your original payment method.
Expense reimbursement
For delays of 2 hours or more, easyJet must provide meals and refreshments proportionate to the wait. For overnight delays, accommodation and transport to and from the airport must be provided. Retain all receipts.
Denied boarding (IDB)
Up to $700
If easyJet involuntarily bumps you from an oversold flight, DOT mandates cash compensation of up to $700 depending on your delay to the destination.
How to claim compensation from easyJet
Check your eligibility
Find your easyJet flight number and date. Significant delays (3+ hours) and cancellations where you chose not to travel qualify for a refund. Denied boarding due to overbooking qualifies for cash compensation.
Gather your documents
You need your booking confirmation or e-ticket number, the flight number and date, any receipts for out-of-pocket expenses (meals, hotel, transport), and your boarding pass if you have it.
Submit to easyJet
Use easyJet's online form to submit your refund or reimbursement claim. Be specific: state the DOT rule, the amount owed, and your original payment method. Vague requests get ignored.
Follow up and escalate if needed
If easyJet ignores your claim, sends a form denial, or offers a voucher instead of cash, you have options. File a complaint with the DOT at transportation.gov/airconsumer. Most airlines respond once a federal complaint is filed.

Note
UK261 applies to all easyJet flights departing from UK airports (including Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Bristol, Edinburgh, and Manchester). EU261 applies to flights departing from EU airports.
