Frontier Airlines Flight Canceled or Delayed?
You May Be Owed a Cash Refund.
Frontier's low fares come with the same DOT passenger rights as any other airline. If your flight was canceled or significantly delayed, we check your eligibility and handle the claim.

What Frontier passengers are entitled to
Under US DOT rules, your rights don’t depend on the reason for the disruption — they’re the law.
Refund
100%
If Frontier cancels your flight or significantly delays it and you choose not to travel, DOT requires a full refund to your original payment method. Frontier may offer miles or credits first — you are not required to accept them in lieu of a cash refund.
Expense reimbursement
Frontier's reimbursement coverage for controllable delay expenses is limited compared to legacy carriers. Submit receipts for meals, hotel, and transport through Frontier's customer support portal. Keep documentation of the disruption type — controllable vs. weather/ATC.
Denied boarding (IDB)
Up to $1,950
If Frontier involuntarily bumps you from an oversold flight, DOT mandates cash compensation of up to $1,950 depending on your delay to the destination.

Note
Frontier frequently offers miles or travel credits rather than cash refunds for qualifying disruptions. You are entitled to a cash refund under DOT rules — explicitly request a refund to your original payment method. Document everything and be prepared to escalate.
Or let TravelStacks handle it for you.
We file directly with Frontier, follow up, and escalate if needed. You don’t touch a form.
Typical response time
Refund requests: 7–20 business days. Frontier's initial responses often offer credits — follow-up and escalation are commonly required to receive a cash refund.

Frontier compensation — frequently asked questions
Am I entitled to a refund if Frontier cancels my flight?
Yes. DOT rules require Frontier to refund you to your original payment method if they cancel your flight or significantly delay it and you choose not to travel. Frontier's ultra-low fares do not change your DOT rights. If Frontier only offers miles or a credit, you can reject it and request cash.
How long do Frontier Airlines refunds take?
DOT requires Frontier to process refunds within 7 business days for card payments and 20 days for other payment methods. Frontier has been subject to DOT enforcement actions for slow refund processing — if your refund is delayed, TravelStacks can escalate to the DOT.
What if Frontier offers miles or a credit instead of a refund?
You do not have to accept miles or a travel credit for a DOT-qualifying cancellation or significant delay. DOT requires a cash refund to your original payment method. Reject the offer and formally request a refund. TravelStacks can file that request and follow up with the DOT if Frontier refuses.
What is Frontier's denied boarding policy?
If Frontier involuntarily bumps you from an oversold flight, DOT mandates cash compensation of up to $1,950 depending on how long you're delayed reaching your destination. Frontier must also rebook you at no extra charge. If payment is refused at the gate, TravelStacks can file the claim.
Can I get reimbursement for expenses during a Frontier delay?
Yes, for controllable delays — those caused by Frontier's own operations rather than weather or ATC. Frontier's Customer Commitment provides limited reimbursement for meals during extended controllable delays. Hotel coverage is less common. Keep all receipts and submit through Frontier's customer support.
